It’s the largest pre-Columbian center and archaeological site in Oaxaca; its name means “Sacred Mountain of Life”. Monte Alban is 10 km from the city of Oaxaca, at the height of 2,000 meters, located in the mountains of Sierra del Sur. This site is the religious capital of the Zapoteca culture. There, you will visit the Great Square, the Ball Game, the Palace, the South Platform, the Dancers Stelas, and Tomb 104.
Continue to Arrazola to discover the alebrijes, wooden figures made from the copal tree whose name means “entangled and difficult thing of confusing or fantastic type,” continue to Cuilapan and Coyotepec, the place of the black mud ceramic, totally handmade.
