The Puuc Valley is located south of Uxmal area (around 30 min) just entering the jungle in the southern part of the state of Yucatan, we will find the most beautiful and artistically worked archaeological sites. Rich in ornament and columns, the cities considered in the Puuc Route are: “Sayil, Xlapac and Labna”. For a moment, we are transported to the Roman or Greek vestiges until our eyes meet the numerous masks of the rain god “Chac” and we are brought back to the mystery and mystic of the Maya culture. Labná is famous throughout the Maya world for its classic arch featuring perfectly walls and an elaborate decorated frieze. The palace of Sayil (place of the red ants) is one of the largest in the Puuc Valley. The viewpoint is also worth to visit. The Loltun caves (Loltun means stone flower) is an extraordinary underground system which the Maya used for ceremonial purposes. The galleries full of stalagmites and stalactites has made Loltun a magic and impressive place for the Maya and the current generations.
