In this tour, you will see Merida main Square, also the Cathedral, built in the 16th century, its sobriety resembles a fort. Contemplate the Government Palace, where the murals of Fernando Pacheco explain the history of the region, inhabited by the Maya when the Spanish arrived. Continuing on to Paseo Montejo, along this avenue Spanish-French residences were built in the 1900´s and at the end of this avenue you´ll find the Monumento a la Patria. 

We recommend visiting the Museum of the Maya World in the building at the “Palacio Cantón,” where it houses an important collection of the Yucatan Maya culture including permanent as well as temporary exhibitions.

 

Just consider there is a new great Maya museum called El Gran Museo del Maya. It is an outstanding museum with great museography and masterpieces of the most of the archeological Maya sites.
