6. Cuilapan de Guerrero and Zaachila the Indigenous Market on Thursday

Departure towards Zaachila that is about 30 km. far from Oaxaca (40-minute drive) visit the town that was the last capital of the Zapoteca civilization, conquered later by the Mixteca, and where every Thursday a typical indigenous market is organized. Visit the small archaeological site, where there are still vestiges of ancient tombs. After this visit, departure towards Cuilapan (about a 15-kilometer drive), where you will visit one of the greatest monasteries of New Spain; in this place, do not miss the Open Chapel, used to evangelize the people in the 16th century. Return to Oaxaca, about 15 km from Cuilapan.
