Celestun

Eco-tourism paradise in the state of Yucatan. Its exceptional landscape is part of the world heritage of the special biosphere reserve of the same name; with an area of ​​59,139 ha., and a length of 21 km., officially declared a fauna refuge since 1979.

1. Celestun flamingo natural reserve with lunch

Celestún is a port in the west coast of Yucatan; 109km away from the city of Merida. The biosphere reserve is located by the coastal wetlands corridor with the best conservation of the western part of the peninsula: mangroves, dunes, hillocks, lowland forests and grasslands that protect the processes of natural evolution. 

The most exotic species of the geography of Yucatan live here. More than 300 species of birds have been spotted in Celestún, of forest (woodpeckers, hummingbirds and motmots) as well as waterfowls: (frigate birds, herons, ducks). Highlight: the beautiful pink flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber). 

 

We will float through the mangrove trails in a boat to discover this special ecosystem with its unique equilibrium.
